Two Official Verification Routes

Everyone who needs to verify can do so using one of two approved methods

  • Direct verification with Companies House

Quick online check using your passport or driving licence.

  • Verification via an ACSP

An authorised professional (like an accountant or agent) who verifies your identity on your behalf.

Verify Directly with Companies House

Verification through Companies House is done entirely online using a secure digital ID check.

You’ll need to:

  • Use your passport, UK driving licence, or national ID card
  • Complete a quick facial recognition scan
  • Receive confirmation once your identity is approved

This option is ideal for directors, PSCs, and company secretaries who prefer to manage their own verification.

Verify Through an ACSP

An Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP) can complete the verification process for you.

They are professionals authorised by Companies House to verify identities securely and submit information on your behalf.

You’ll need to:

  • Provide ID documents (passport, driving licence, or proof of address)
  • Complete an online form or video call
  • Receive confirmation from your ACSP once your status is verified

This route is perfect for overseas individuals or those who prefer professional assistance.

What You’ll Need for Verification

Secure and Confidential

Your personal data is protected under UK data protection law.

All verification checks use encrypted systems and are handled only by authorised organisations.

Your ID is never shared publicly on the company register.

After You’re Verified

Once approved, your verified status will be linked to your Companies House profile.

You can then manage filings, create new companies, or act as a director without restrictions.

You’ll only need to verify again if you change your name or identity document.

How long does verification take?

Usually a few minutes online, or up to 24 hours via an ACSP.

What if my verification fails?

You can retry or submit updated documents — or use an ACSP for help.

Can non-UK residents verify online?

Yes, through Companies House or an ACSP that supports international checks.

Do I need to verify again each year?

No — once verified, your status remains valid unless your personal details change.
